Hi,
In the ever vain attempt to keep my Oakie, without shelling out shed loads on fuel, I have been tempted by an offer to fully fit an LPG kit for 500notes.
Has anybody had a LPG kit fitted toa standard 16v unit?
-
Ive got lpg on a non standard 16v. Mines got the 9A 2 litre bottom end. For 500 quid id say go for it! You will make your money back in bout 4 months if you do a lot of miles! With mine i get about 300 miles out of ?18 which is hard driving too cos ive got a lead foot!

Hi,
Booked it in today, So i will post when its all done.
What sized tank do you have?
I am getting a 35l, which is small but is gonna sit in the wheel resess. May build a false floor to disguise completly and make sure I still have a flat floof for the sub.
-
I got a 50l tank that looks like a giant NOS tank and takes up half of the boot. Which makes it a problem when i wanna squeeze 2x 12" subs and 2 amps! Where are you putting your fill up port? Mines currently where the badge would be on the rear but i wanna move it to inside the boot.

Hmm,
35litres ain't going to last long...Oh Well!
Was thinking of putting the filler in the bumber, on the black plastic bit, so it will blend more. If not, I don't relly mind, its going to look sh1te where ever it goes!
-
Put your filler as part of you stereo build. could look very posy!

LPG reaks
It smells like dirty rotten cabbage farts.
enjoy
-
Tell me about it. You end up smelling like a pig farmer if it sprays back at you when your refilling.
-
Well, its not gone too well..............
First of all, drove 100 miles to have it fitted, only to be told the tank they suggested wasn't going to fit as the petrol tank is in the wrong place! so 200 miles for nothing!
Return the next day to have it fitted with a larger tank (which i got free btw) However, was told that the system may draw a little petrol in with the LPG, but nothing to worry about. So I drive home and around, watching the petrol guage go down and the LPG stay where it was. Went to fill the LPG after 170 Miles....it took 12p worth of LPG and ?20 of Petrol. all is not well.

Wow 170 miles on 12p of LPG. Impressive
It obviously needs a little fettling. Once your sorted I reckon you won't lookback

Hmm somethings not right there! Mine does not need petrol to run at all. Does yours have a swich inside the car where you flick from petrol to gas? Are you sure its on gas?
-
I thought that they fired up on Petrol but automatically switched to Gas once started up?
Some cheap systems you have to manually switch but the descent ones do it for you?
-
I can fire up on either really. Im supposed to flick to petrol to start but i find i can start on gas if i rev it to 2k which is when the feed kicks in. But yes it starts better on petrol.

Hi,
Still no joy, appaerntly it needs a complete fuel shut off valve, so they have ordered on.
BTW, How can I get the cars stance right now that theres and extra ^0k in the boot it squats at the back. Its got nearly new 16v springs on, do do you reacon 8v springs with the extra 35mm will help, or get some of those towing spring spacers from Halfords?
-
Where did you get an LPG conversion for ?500 ?
Is it just someone you know or did you already have the parts and they just set it up?
-
You have PM
-
I dont have the stance problem cos ive got coilovers. Its one way to solve it but probably not the cheapest.
