I'm loving my 16v right now. Just did a trip to Lyme Regis from Yeovil, and loved it, pulled really well and even average 37(ish) MPG. Got it upto 40 at one point.

shady you must drive like me gran!
my 100bhp passrat does well under 30 av! (and it still wont fail!!)

Most definitely not, that was with several power blasts at the most opportune times, and stop/starting at several locations. Besides you Passrat is like the weights of King Kong, no surprise it does 30 or less.

Passat is not much heavier than the mk3.

Even so, I proved 40mpg can be done in the barge.

Pffft I can get 40mpg out of my track car!

Pics or it never happened.

Next time I take it out for a pootle I'll get a shot of the MFA. It'll get to 43mpg if I granny it, but on trackdays I get about 9mpg

If I booted it around everywhere I wouldn't be surprised to see it sit at the 17-21mpg mark, but a bit of sensible driving and a bit of fun combines to a good figure.

Nick, top speed on a mk2 16v is 130mph.
-
my barge does (on the mfa) 41 on an A-road, bit less on a motorway, 23 if i'm driving on
never actually measured the mpg but i only drive two or three times a week so its no biggie
without consulting the MK2 forum how easy is it to drop an ABF into a mk2? i'd love a mk2 but they are that bit too old unless i came across a really fast/special one...
anyone looking for specs should check http://carfolio.com/specifications/models/?man=6483 (http://carfolio.com/specifications/models/?man=6483) its the industry standard
