Title: engine temp always cold
Post by: Mr Blue on 04 January 2005, 17:47
Just sorting out the little things on the golf....

engine temp is always showing just over cold (the instrument does work)

Nice warm air through the heater aswel.
The radiator fan never kicks in.
Just put a new thermo in so thats ruled out. Was thinking it could be the bottom temp sensor on the radiator but thats also new.

any clues. chers

No solution; however, I have the same symptoms, I had thought it was the thermostat and had planned to replace, you seem to have ruled that out. I first noticed it when I recently replaced my instrument panel and noticed the temperature gauge read very low, it read quite low in the previous panel also, but not as low as now. Could it be the instrument panel gauge that is faulty?

i have the same problem at the moment.

took her out for a drive at the weekend, and it never got above 84 on the MFA. it should be 95-100. once i dropped back from XXX the temperature dropped to 80.

warm air though through the heater.

Maybe the temp sender itself is faulty.
