I think I am correct in saying that all the MK2 GTI/G60 Top Mounts have been replaced by MK3 ones...

G60 ones still exist, i only recently (last 6 months) bought some.

I bought these, or similar ones to these.

Don't disagree but when the dealer looked for G60 ones for me the number came back as the same ones for the Mk3... and thats wher I have gotten the part number from now... ETKA

Yeah I bought them off ebay and they were cheaper than that, about a tenner, but same pic.

G60 ones available from GSF. Bought some last week.
-
G60 ones are one and the same as Passat ones. So yes, available.
-
you want mk3 vr6 ones anyway, a much better design!
-
thats because early MK3 4 stud models also use G60 top mounts. they arn't really G60 mounts, they're Passat ones. the givaway is the part number 357 = passat
veedub: MK3 VR6 top mounts are the same as all MK3 GTI top mounts, and also they're fitted to late 4 stud models too. The reason for the myth 'VR6 ones are stronger' is because they were fitted to the Corrado VR6, the 4 pot rados used the G60 top mount setup.
if you want to use the MK3 GTI top mounts on MK2 springs you need the early MK3 GTI top spring plate, part number 1H0 412 341. you also need the threaded bush part number 1H0 412 365 A. the top retaining cup is different part number 357 412 319 B, but when i test fitted em my mk2 ones seemed to fit alright? need a new top nut too, part number N 105 352 01
edit: again the MK3 GTI top mounts are actually passat, part number for the mount is 357 412 331 A :)
-
ah i didn't know that, i suppose the mk3 topmount bushes are priced the same then anyway.
its just such a good feeling throwing the slotted nut in the bin
-
heh yeah :)
did the same upgrade on my mk2 a while ago and its noticably better than the G60 ones i took off. the MK3 4stud widetrack setup is nice as well
not like the G60 ones are poor though, as long as you get good lemforder ones. the febi ones are hit n miss.
edit: oh and you can somtimes get a good price for the lemforder stuff on ebay, do a search for 'lemforder' in the vw parts section, got mine nice n cheap that way. i had to go to vag for the spring plates and threaded bushes though, but wernt expensive. the annoying thing is i spent ages at the scrappy trying to get the mk3 retaining plates as had been told mk2 ones wouldn't fit, but then when i got home to try they seemed fine to me. I still put the mk3 retaining plates on since I worked so hard to get em

cheers for all the help guys. does anyone know a part number for the bearings aswell?
-
top mount is 357 412 331 A, bearing is 1J0 412 249 :)
