hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum, and also to the Golf GTI's, i bought the car about 5 months ago 1.8 T, black.... loving it man
anyway there's some thing i wanted to ask if anyone can assist is that i wanted to put some Bailey's dump valve on the golf, but people tell me that the dump valves will mess the turbo system up, for example it will give off the sound you want, but it will slow the car down. now is that true, Any assistance would be greatly appreciated....... :undecided:
cheers

ECU receives false air readings if the boost isn't re-circulated as is intended and holds back on the power. Some "hybrid" valves work on AGU engines (older, less electronic trickery), so I guess it depends on your engine code.
Having said that, I have a forge recirc valve and since i changed over to a silicon turbo inlet pipe there's a very audible "psshht" when I change gear.

cheers mate,
if you don't mind mate me asking, where an how much did you get the forge recirc valve, an the silicon turbo inlet pipe from.
you see i got the same model as your, on a 99 plate.
cheers for you assistance.....

so does that mean that if you use a recirculating valve then it will bo ok, i was goin to ask this question as im thinking of fitting one my self

A re-circ valve will be fine yes.
I had mine fitted the same time as my exhaust, all supplied/fitted by stealthracing. The DV i think was around ?70, but you can fit them yourself in 10 minutes, just make sure you check the condition of all the pipes to it (vacuum line on mine had perished).
The inlet pipe is a Samco jobby provided by forge once again, although i got it through a mate for 100 notes, they're about 140 delivered from forge. Since yours is a '99 make sure to order the AGU one, or you'll have to plug a hole and swap the DV (just like i did, oops!). Took me about 2 hours to fit after all the messing about, and stopping for the rain twice.. so shouldnt take more than an hour for you.
