Has anyone changed the outer lip on these? I wasn't concentrating last night and managed to touch a kerb - I was furious!!! I was wondering do they just glue on?
Where is the cheapest place to get them? PW Motorsport have them on eBay for £60
-
Think they are the UK distributor so probably your best bet for service and asking how to fit them :)
-
I am trying to contact Rimstyle where I got the rims. If they can't help me, I will have to get these from PW Motorsport.
-
is there any update on this? when you take them off is there a gap between the wheel and the tire?
i am going to take the plunge and order from rimstyle very soon

I ordered a replacement lip on Tuesday and it arrived yesterday morning.
It was £60 + delivery from PW Motorsport.
I haven't fitted it yet but I will be doing it later.
It comes with taped already fitted to the replacement part so it should be a simple job of removing the existing lip then sticking on the new one.
There is a channel for the lip to sit in so it should be simple.

What colour of Golf do you have? Will you be going for the 19x8s, ET50?

Can you take some pics when you do the swap? Quite interested in how well these work :)

Do you mean you are interested in how the replacement lip looks or how well they look on the car?
-
the process of the swap really - how damaged they currently look, how hopefully un-damaged the wheel itself is and how easy the replacement is to fit.

It isn't too bad to be honest. I could probably polish the existing outer rim and stick it on again and nobody would notice. I am just fussy.
I will try to get some pictures later when I do it.

i have cw gti, i will be going for the 18s with Michelin pilot sport tyres
the main thing i am worried about is the gap/channel looking awkward because i plan to take off the lip permanently
-
I have the 19s but I will get a pic without the outer rim for you.
-
Can you get them without that silver rim round them ?
-
I don't think you can get them in black without the rim. You can get them in silver with no rim though.
-
Great pics and even better wheels. Love black wheels on a white car

shame. with the alloy being nice and glossy, to keep that looking smart, ensure the tyre is dressed at all times. well, thats my opinion anyway.

The wheels are actually a matt black finish. Has the great VWKev made a mistake?!?!

I shouldnt have used glossy. new would have been a better word to use as I didnt mean the finish.
Point being, try not let the tyre get dirthy and dry, as all you'll notice is a dirty wheel between the white and the alloy, it will stand out. Sorry but I cant help but leave detailing tips, bad habit of mine.

any update on the pic of the wheel and the outer rim?
sorry to be a bother
-
Very nice they really suit the candy white GTI they make the car look very classy unlike alot of mods.
-
Sorry for the delay. I didn't get decent pics either when I was replacing the lip.
I got a couple of pics. The first shows what I did to the wheel, the second shows the channel that the lip goes onto.

The actual process was easy. I pulled the damaged lip off and the only part that took any time was removing the previous glue.
The new lip sits in a channel and it is impossible to put it on wrong.
I had thought that I could have taken the lips off all of the wheels some day and painted them but they are scrap after they are removed as they go out of shape.
-
alright thanks dude. i will be getting these bad boys soon

You got your head turned by a chick in a short skirt, didnt you.
-
If only! I went to look at a new house and touched a kerb at it.

Don't have anything to do with that house. It's bad luck. Mark my words! :lipsrsealed:
