Title: fuel coming out of air filter
Post by: dubslug on 10 July 2010, 08:58
Need help guys, i have mk 8v on pb engine management
prob is the car wouldnt start just clicked as if started was dead...
managed to start it it runs and then stalled, it seems like the fuel rail then buzzes its defo not the isv
the buzzing stops if u disconnected the fuel injector rail plug
once its all calmed down and u can start it its very hard to start but eventually starts runs then dies

the fuel pump primes and stops after a few seconds but when car is running it stinks of fuel just before cutting out, i also poured alot of fuel out the air filter too, would seem it runs ok then floods and stalls

help needed please guys

Might be wrong but sounds like the ecu has failed and is filling the cylinders with fuel.

i thought if ecu had failed then it ran fuel pump all the time, mine seems tp prime itself and stop until fired up..
i cant swear to it but if the fuel rail is buzzing then it primes longer

Cleaned up all the earths, rechecked all sparks etc, had car running for half hour then the same again massive fuel smell before cutting out and the buzzing, i left it to buzz and that stopped but i took the rubber boot off between throttle body and air flow and could see the fuel vapours been pushed out as if injectors were still running... i turned off and then let it sort itself out and for some reason left it with ignition on, few mins later the injectors fired up for no reason as if it had been told to open injectors.... i hadnt touched key or anything, so what tells injectors to open and for how long??

its all done by the ecu. since it did it randomly with ign on you definitely have an ecu or a wiring fault id say

Cheers everyone it has turned out to be an intermitant fault with ecu, replaced it and cars running sweet as now its been set up
