Title: Upgrading Brakes....
Post by: X4MGS on 09 July 2010, 15:53
I am looking at upgrading the brakes on my Mk2 & need some input as to what I might need....

Rears; I am going to fit new MK3 calipers with new discs & bearings... So no big issue there..

Fronts; I am looking at fitting Porsche/Brembo Monoblocks from a 996... I have fitted the fronts so my Audi S2 which is a common upgrade but I have a set of the rears lying around and I am looking at getting a bracket machined up from a friend of mine and we are then looking to sell this bracket as an upgrade option...

So what I need to know is what discs would I need to fit under the 15" BBS RA's I have that are the same hat size as the oem discs... I have read somewhere that you can get 304mm discs to fit...

Any info greatly appreciated...

304mm discs under 15" RAs? I have no experience with this, but I was told I'd be pushing it trying to put 288mm discs under 15"s

280mm came on G60. I'm planning on upgrading mine to 16v hubs with G60 (280mm) carriers, calipers, discs and pads. I think 280mm also came on some other cars, Corrado, and it wouldn't suprise me if they came on the Passat but I'm not sure

There's not a lot of room in there....

Might have to go smaller to fit the Monoblock calipers...
