Hi,
I purchased a 1 owner gti today, 07 plate with 40k on the clock, driving home on the motorway, the car felt unsafe - wobbling from left to right (when i push gas to the right, when i left go of gas, to the left). I called the guy up and asked if he got the new tyres balanced and aligned and he says it has....
what could it be?
please advise

I'd get it down to reputable tyre centre (not kwik bodge or a VW dealer) and get them to check it out for you.
I would suspect bad alignment or some worn bushes or ball joints in the front suspension.

Wheel bolts loose??
As said, get it to VW ameadiatly

Did you not take it for a test drive?

A pranger.

+1 does not sound good.

I'd be taking it right back

I took it onto a ramp, looks like the bushe is loose or has some free play, i did take it for a test drive, but not to 80-90 mph.
i wish i could take it back! its not what it seems, the guy i bought if off stinks too, i felt oboliged to buy it having taken a friend with me over 200 miles to see it, its okay apart from this pulling and the drivers seat is so so so smelly! its kinda a damp smell!!! any decent way to get rid of the smell?
whats a pranger?

Ref the smelly seat, i would have a go with one of the many products for seat cleaning that you can get from places like Halfords etc.Failing that a professional valet should do it.

Just cause yours has doesn't mean this chaps has. There are plenty of other causes of wandering around then a smack.

Well said. Too much scare-mongering going on. Sort those bushes and the minging seat and you should have a top car.
