is this really whats used to hold a battery in place in an mkii??
-
yes, there is a lip on the battery tray, rear of the battery hooks into this and that clamp holds the front edge down
-
really.. because i was under the impression it was an actual box that hold that battery in place. then again i dont have anything holding mine in place and by looking at the spot the battery fits it looks like it should be a box to hold it haha...
so you're sayin im completely wrong and this is the part i need then??
-
The rear of the battery is held in place by a folded lip of metal that runs the width of the battery. This holds the base of the battery which has a lip running round the base.
The metal clasp and bolt holds the front of the battery in place.

Yes, you are completely wrong (but that's nothing new for an American eh  ) and that is the bit you need.
-
Harsh! But correct!
-
yeah but unlike most americans im humble enough to admit when im wrong haha
and by the way kudos on that picture.. looked at tons of sites for one to show me what it looked like but nothing came close to that one.. well on ya mate..

No problem.. Just dont forget. We're NOT all English. How would you feel if I called you Canadian?
-
to be honest if i were called canadian i would not be offended i live close enough haha.. funny thing about that is my last name is Yukon so i even have my very own territory up there    even got a family picture next to the "Welcome to the Yukon Territory" sign when moving from Alaska to Wasington.
by the way, a little more on topic, got the part and it fits perfectly. now i can drive easy knowing my battery isnt flying all over my engine and knocking my power steering off its little holder.
cheers on the help guys. i think im starting to get the hang of this gti of mines
