Ok, Ive never done this before but my carb is having issues so Im putting a manual choke on it, is there a certain type of choke I need? Or are they all the same? i.e. if I order one off ebay will it just fit, because there is different chokes on there but none for a Golf, and, the conversion kits are for a weber, whereas I have a 2e2.
Any help appreciated, Im a complete noob at this choke thing! lol! :undecided:

2E2 pierburg is an auto choke, as far as I'm aware it is not possible to change it to manual.
You'd be better off a weber 32/34 in the long run, had one on my old 1.6 and made a big difference to over stock better power/economy.
Found this for you, bit old but worth a punt

Got no ££ :(

Don't you have a webcam?
Swap to a Weber unit to do it properly and get better MPG and more power.

Could always post a wanted ad and see what sort deal you can strike.
I'm not suggestining you do what DH is suggesting, some people have I know seem to manage to barter parts etc without cash ever changing hands.
When lack of funds occur some sideways logic is required.

There are manual conversion kits for Pierburg units out there.. Hen's teeth is the only issue - But I've seen pictures and documentation regarding it!

a company called Sandalloy used to do a conv. kit for this carb try your local motor factors be surprised what they keep over time

It might be easier short term fix just to pull out another Pierburg unit I hate Pierburgs thats where I start at many years ago and took me ages to set one right.
All I can say is try and take the unit out, clean it out with carb cleaner, de-gunk it all and check clearance of the inlet manifolds to hayes manual.
The biggest pain is the Waxstat if it doesn't idle properly on warm up its worth checking that one componet out
