Title: Centre Console Dash Rattle - and other ones
Post by: VWjon on 08 July 2010, 12:27
Right so I found and cured ratter no.1 - loose screw behind panel to the left of glove box with door opened.

rattle no.2 comes from panel above 2 centre air vents on the dash, I know this as when driving if pressure is applied it goes away. I remember seeing someone temp fix it with bluetak  is there another way?

rattle no.3 I think is coming from the parcel shelf, the two bits of string / bungs that hold it in place when the boot is opened. anyone had this?

Also I think slight rattles may come from the metal clip that hold in the dash surround of the dual temp dials - Glue gun at the ready to fix this.

Sorry can't help with be fixes but mine rattles like a mother f**k*r. Drivers door, passenger door, centre dash and from hand brake area. My first and last VW - I've had it 3.5 years now though and cambelt is due end of next month and it'll need new rear pads and prob discs too so won't be changing it forma while.

No good stitch. Pop the fuse box panel and the same panel on the passenger side, your rattles will be loose screws there. The rest will probably be the same as mine listed. Atempting to cure over the weekend.
