Lucky not to have the cheeky rubbed bit in the centre where they carress the aerial whilst opening the boot. Mine has a sly gash.....

Its better than not having one surely! lol Been hunting for so long, according to vw dealers they only have the R32 spoiler now which is new at £230 which i aint away to pay for.

Unless i come across a different spoiler within 3 weeks then thats the one i'll be putting on. Car gets sprayed start of august. How do i go around "bolting" the spoiler on as ive heard of people saying this. Thanks.

Only by about an inch or so   Votex is slightly bigger than those but from a distance you'd struggle to tell

So what ive got here is in fact fine to put on Rhyso  Cleaned it up today, managed to take all the by looks of it tiger seal off and sanded that part down so it sits nice on tailgate, I see theres a few holes in the part ya cant see once its on, how do ya screw this on? I'd rather do that along with an adhesive as im sure someone will be tempted to try and a knick it haha.

Post by: tech1889 on 08 July 2010, 17:51
I think they are just tiger sealed on.. my mates mk3 his spoiler is just sealed on.. believe me once its on its on take quite a lot of effort to get off lol
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 08 July 2010, 18:02
Right cool, Is TigerSeal the best thing to use or whats even better to use?
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: tech1889 on 08 July 2010, 18:13
tiger seal is perfect for the job just go get a tube put some on the spoiler put spoiler in place.. wipe off excess while still wet and then masking tape to hold in position till dry :) Its really good stuff and easy to use.. but if your getting your car sprayed in the near future get the spoiler sprayed separately and then put on after or get them to do it :)
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 08 July 2010, 18:15
its the bumper inserts and door handles that are getting sprayed, their getting colour coded so once thats done i'll then put the spoiler on, quite lucky as the spoilers spot on with colour so i dont need to worry about that lol. Tiger Seal it is then!

What do u think about the swap of alloys in my other topic started today? worth it or not?
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: tech1889 on 08 July 2010, 18:52
I really like the ones you have.. but everyone else likes the others.. i think alloys is such down to personal preference and how the car sits and what look your really going for.. for me the ones you have are better :)

There are 3 pics of a Votex spoiler fitted mate. If you look in the centre of the spoiler, there is a little yellow groove where it has rubbed against the aerial for 12 years. Too late to do anything about it now but you should check that your aerial doesnt hit it. I think thats why the later  ones have that horrible cut out. The R32 one isnt as long I dont think

Looks good on ur car mate, well i cant wait to fit mines, had to cut off the excess sealent from the previous fit today so gave it a sanding too and sprayed the part u dont see, so its looking good, from being out of a scrapyard its not got a mark on it so im well chuffed. Slight wee mark where the ariel was rubbing but its not quite taken the paint off.

Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 08 July 2010, 23:35
vwfiend .. where did u get ur ariel as last time i bought a shorter one the radio signal went to f**k. Just really bad but since i put the standard normal ariel back in its place its perfect. The short one was a £15 off egay. If possible can u reply with a link to one that will actually work and wont loose radio signals... Thanks mate.
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: vwfiend on 08 July 2010, 23:53
Yep, courtesy of VW Wolfsburg 1998. Not changed from standard pal. Radio reception is all good with it, the spoiler isn't...... An aerial is an aerial, however if you change your head unit for an aftermarket, it helps if you use an aerial amplifier separate to the head unit itself that runs off a 12v feed

Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 09 July 2010, 00:01
well i dont know if the ariel i bought was just crap then but its like the standard one i have but shorter edition. Looks good but it obv aint good enough, i guess i'll just need to shop around and get one somewhere then.

Have you changed your stereo? If not then go to a local audio specialist as they will advise something half decent rather than a halfrauds anodised 'bee sting' aerial or a e92 'style' fin   tps might do one as mine is genuine
Title: Re: Which type of spoiler have a bagged?
Post by: CraigDavieBeattie on 09 July 2010, 00:11
whats tps? i dont think theres a shop in Dundee called that. Just an autofactors then?

nothing wrong with the cut out on the spoiler, at least it serves a purpose and stops the aerial rubbing on it

I have an Enfig short aerial on mine, no problems with reception

Mate, the cut out is heanus! Although yes the purpose is served well! I think my aerial was standard with the votex kit so it might be worth looking at cars being broken if not
