Sorry to hijack, but X4MGS I've been looking for a small scale model mk2 but they're all small bumper except a really tacky green with yellow speed stripes on ebay, any idea where to get one?
-
lol
The paint shop achieves flawless results. After an intensive pre-treatment with all seams, folds and joints sealed, each car goes through to have sealants, colour and protective layers applied.

An original sales brochure?

Aaaah!
Makes a bit more sense now, but what does it do?
I must say I would quite like one, look pretty rowdy!
-
What about that bloke that was selling BBS RS coffee tables? Not strictly vw but certainly different.
I was really pleased when my Mrs tracked down 1st edition of Performance VW mag for me.
Has a green mk2 on the front cover too which just made it perfect.
-
You can buy a Rabbit from any good "Sex Shop" and can give a great amount of pleasure ... And Can Go Like Stink Too... (so I'm Told)...
Wouldn't give it to a Bloke Friend Mind... Might Get A Punch In The Mouth....

just kinda curious. i live in the US and a golf and a rabbit are completely different cars. at least to my knowledge. is there no such thing as a vw rabbit in the uk??
-
I'm sure the Golf and the Rabbit is the same thing. We don't have Rabbits over here. Or was it just mk1 Golfs that were called Rabbits??

this is how it goes from my knowledge.

mkii rabbit
the most noticable difference to me is that the front of the rabbit comes to more of a point than the golf. definately different cars.. very simular but different none the less. another difference ive come to notice is that rabbits also come in convertable while im pretty sure there is no such thing as a convertable golf (but dont quote me on that)....

never heard of a clipper lol. whats a clipper??
-
Mk1 Golf soft top, basically
-
in other words puttin me in my place.... haha
well the clipper doesnt exist in the US
so looks like dont quote me on that unless you live in the states
-
Isn't a clipper based on an early mk2 (small bumper, quad lights etc) but called a "mk1" because it was the first cabriolet?
Thats what I always thought.
-
this is pointless to post but couldnt tell ya mate. never even heard of one until early today
-
How about this for a f**king awesome gift? Dont tell mom!

Live & Learn M8....

Rowley, the mk2 Rabbit you posted is a mk1 Golf, as is, I'm pretty sure, the mk1 Rabbit.
Mitching, I always thought it was a mk2, but I'm pretty sure it's the same as the mk1 cabriolet, just brought more up to date with, as you said, the quad headlights etc
-
Mk1 Golf was badged in the USA (Only) as a "Rabbit" though, the Cabriolet version was always known as a Golf (TTBOMK), the Clipper version was just a face lifted update of the Mk1 Cabriolet, side skirts, wheel arches, and full fitting front and rear bumpers and was produced right up until the Mk3 cabriolet version was introduced.... there was no Mk2 Cabriolet version of the Golf, Europe, or US
It must also be said that the introduction of larger bumpers on Mk1 Cabriolets (Clippers) was to satisfy the requirements of US Federal safety legislation, the very same laws that killed off, many European vehicle exports to the US, but that's another story..
To my knowledge, many people in the UK still think that ALL US Golfs, of all Mk's are still called Rabbits, hence some confusion.
The above is a general explanation for our US friends, and is not meant to be a verbatim account, to be picked apart!

wouldnt be able to pick it apart if i tried mate.
by the way twisted appologies on that. i took the lazy route and just googled the car and copied the picture to help emplimate my point. prolly should took a closer look at the cars in the pictures and not relied so much on the title. ahah
