Hi just got myself a mk 4 gti 1.8 20v turbo but I don't think the turbo is working right it has a blue dump valve witch is the one that dumps it back in to the turbo I don't really know that much about cars lol but when I put my foot down a bit it make a wining nosie and some times I can hear the dump valve but the turbo don't seem to be kicking in like all the turboed cars iv been in don't know if there could be a fault or just me any ideas
-
it sounds like you need to get the car plugged in m8 and look for fault codes cold be n75 or ya maf atc
-
well the wining noise is turbo spooling up an the dump it when you obviously let oss do you have the tooosh sounds or the chatter?
any idea on the dv make? the 1.8t can be very picky
as for the the actual turbo kick the 1.8ts arnt amazing quick as standard do you have the 150bhp?
so to expect it to really throw u it wont be happening... they dont throw u bak in ya seat

the re-circ valve may not be strong enough and blowing open on boost. I would ditch it and get a Forge 007p re-circ valve.
As Linz said you'll hear a whistling sound which is your turbo spooling up, but in standard form they dont seem like a turbo is fitted. You'll notice the turbo better in higher gears 4th & 5th

not to sure what dv is on it all i know is that its blue it was my step dads golf and he put it on so next time i see him ill ask.
it is the 150bhp one i was expecting a bit more of a kick from it tho i went from a saxo vtr to this :D
where cam i get it pluged and see if there is any faults with it and how much will this cost and how much is the 007 dv every one is talking about has any one got a link to this?

you can pick Forge 007p re-circ valves up off ebay and websites for around 70-80 quid delivered for second hand units and new from forge £104.29.
where abouts are you based? A local garage may be able to plug it in on a Snap-on diagnostics machine or similar and scan for codes, probs cost anywhere between £20- £60 depending.
In standard form they dont really give you a kick in the back, but once mapped you get a real good kick in the back and it transforms the car to a real Gti

alternatively vagcom lead off egay is a tenner with driver cd and you can manage to get full vagcom for free on the net somewhere im sure

i just had a look for remap £200 but my mate had one witch he could put it back to the standard map setting whats the diffrence apart from £300 more lol
-
and i live in bridgend any one els from there?

Here's the best current price on the Forge 007P, it's where I got mine from. Green spring as standard but if you get a remap you'll need the yellow spring
