Title: HT Leads & 4 Prong Bosch Spark Plugs
Post by: m4nesh on 11 August 2003, 19:08

Hello All!!! Need some advise!

Gonna purchase some HT Leads as told they make a noticable difference and been advised by the chaps at Graham Goode store to buy 8mm MagnaCore or 8mm Diamond HT Leads.  Are these any good and any other suggestions or thoughts.

Secondly, Bosch have brought out a spark plug with 4 prongs.  I've been told if you have a induction kit NOT to use it coz your engine will run too hot and eventually burn out the valves (this is advise from a man from Volkswares stores in Leicester)....Has anyone got an opinion on this??? Should I just stick to standard spark plugs?

Cheers Manesh

The standard 3 prong sparkies from VW are more than adequate as are the leads you get from halfords.  This whole spending ?30 on a set of fancy coloured leads in my opinion shows no gains, you see there is I think upto 50,000 volts surging down the lead to make that spark and even a cheap bit of copper (which is one of the best conductors) is going to deliver all of it.

I agree with Tizer. I think standard leads will do the job fine.

I'm fairly sure Bosch make all the leads for VW, or most of them!

cheers for the advise lads

I have brought some 6mm Magnecor leads with standard 3 prong sparkies.

Car feels slightly more responsive and when driving in second without putting foot on the accelerator car pulls itself along with very smoothly...

had my new leads and standard three prong plugs delivered at the end of last week and cant believe the difference i only changed to the four prong as they claim to be the best, but after the advice of a few tuners and other people changed them back to the three ,
can only report MUCH IMPROVEMENT.
regards one happy bunny ;D
