Title: Rear Gearbox Engine Mount
Post by: Lukeabercynonnoi on 05 July 2010, 13:34
Wondering if someone could help me out . . .

A while back I hit the curb in the snow :O It bent my front wishbone and snapped the spring - nightmare!

I have replaced all the above problems and I thought all was well, but now there seems to be something wrong with the engine mount. When I reverse the car, it makes a really loud clunking noise, sounds like chunks of metal hitting eachother. I have been told that it is the rear gearbox engine mount. After I took a look in the engine bay, there seems to be a problem with the mount on the passenger side of the car to the right hand side of the engine. Located behind the batter but lower down to the ground to the battery.

Im just wondering if anyone knows if this is definitely the problem or if anyone knows the part number for this engine mount.

I have a Mk3 golf GTI 16v - 2.0l Engine code - ABF

Thanks (Y)

That's brilliant!

That's spot on what's happening with my car, the picture that's on there is the exact same as what my mount is looking like atm.

I found the same Mount at GSF Too - £15.60 EXC VAT (£18.33 INC VAT) - That's store pick-up though.

Seem's easy enough to change too, thanks for the link, Great help! :-)

Luke
