How much are you willing to pay. And what do you think is a reasonably price for some?

Thanks, James

I've lowered the price to £99.99 which I feel is a lot more reasonable. :D

I cant make my mind up on these (too much carbon as I already have the front grille . .. dont want to go OTT with it) and the fact  I need to get new disks and pads all round next pay day means I shouldn't really be spending money on silly things I dont actually need lol.

Bugger ! :(

Ive only got a T20 screwdriver which takes off all the body work etc, I need a T10 for the mirrors so clipped it all back together. Working from home tomorrow so will pop out in the morning and pick up a T10 and get them fitted during "lunch".

Bless her, she says "but there not the same colour as your car :undecided:"

"Don't worry, you wouldn't understand" was the reply :D

ARGH !

I cant get the cover off. I've got this far. . .

. . . and according to this guide (http://golfgtiguides.co.uk/guides/remove-mk5-wing-mirror-and-change-indicator/) I need to "Pry the two tabs gently using a flat bladed screwdriver"

Ive already managed to snap it a little bit, no matter how much I pry (do I pry forward, backwards?) It wont budge and f**k knows how im going to get to the one nearest the car, there just isnt any room (its so far back you cant see it in the pic I posted)

Any help Jim?

Oh the irony. Take 2 seconds to put to back together, I just cant get the f**king cover off. I came inside to calm down before I snapped something. Going to pop back out in a sec and try again :(

Regarding removing them, your guess is as good as mine. Just take your time, don't snap the original part.. Or the par that's attached to the car for that matter lol..

Title: Re: Thoughts on these carbon fibre wing mirrors
Post by: AlanD on 08 July 2010, 14:21
Ah dont ! Its going to take lots of swearing and lots of effort. Spoke to my garage man today and he said how much of a pain in the arse it is to do as the plastic clips are REALLY stiff. I'm going to give it another go this evening but he said to pop down there tomorrow and he will give it a go.

If I fail tonight, which I probably will hopefully he will get them on tomorrow.

It all looks so easy in the "How to"

At least you know that when you get the CF ones fitted, it will be hard for some piky to come nick 'em :D

Funny you say as thats exactly what he said, he said in a way its good they are stiff so that no one can steal them but that in turns make them a pain to swap over. Cant have it all can you :D
Title: Re: Thoughts on these carbon fibre wing mirrors
Post by: jimbooboo on 08 July 2010, 15:58
In VW's defense, the average Joe isn't going to be swapping them over much anyway. lol.. Bad for chavs/pikys etc, an inconvenience for for modders lol.
