you guys are thinking of a "phatttt" mk3

Sounds like something is up, coil pack will cause a misfire! so quite possible its time for a new one, check for vac leaks, MAF sensor could also cause, it  you can unplug the MAF and take it for a spin, see if it feels any better?

I have got round to sorting my car out , new plugs, leads, oil filter, oil ,dissie cap and rota arm , took it for a spin and its still playing up ( wont go over 100mph ) . So i had a look on the good old Golf GTI.co.uk and it pointed to the TB needs cleaning out as it was black inside. I got myself a tin of cleaner an a old rag and tooth brush took my time . I put it all back together and took it out for a spin, it feels like a new car SORTED :) It pulls like it should, i will do it every 6 months from now on when i do a service thanks all
