hi just wondering if the 8v exhaust is the same as the 16v or vr6?????
seen a couple on ebay saying 8v 16v or vr6???
-
I don't believe they are?
May have to wait for Wayne on this one ;)
-
no im pretty sure there a different bore size :)
-
well they all fit....but the 8v uses a short reducer on the cat back
-
I asked the same question a while back as I was getting a performance exhaust and wondered it I could swap it onto a 16v if my 8v died. Was told I couldn't :)
-
16v and Vr is larger bore.
-
well boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo anyway then.lol
ive got a vr jettex system on my 8v at the mo,but just want an exhaust 2 fit back on my 8v as i wanna put the jettex on my vr now.sob sob sob
-
You only need a sleeve.
-
oh rite sooooooo......
i could get a vr exhaust and use the sleeve that ive got on the gti already??????
im just wanna put a standard exhaust on the gti as im sellin it,but cant find a 8v anywhere, obviously not lookin 4 a new 1 as sellin car anyway

sweeeeeeeeeeet.cheers dude.will do
does it make a difference in the sound???
my 8v has a jettex vr full system on it,but sounds very loud compared with when the exhaust was on my mates vr 2.9 sports?????
-
You'll choke the engine slightly.
-
interesting......
so.....lol
would it cause stalling at low revs??????
thought it might be my idle control valve not working?????
-
thats could be gunked up breather pipes or TB cleaning needed
-
will look it to it dude, cheers

Does it not depend on the year?? Mine's a 97 8v and i've got a standard stainless steel from a 16v on it. Fitted the pipe coming from the cat without any probs at all :undecided:
-
the size of the pipe at the back of the cat is the same on 1.8/8v/16v and vr6..and they all use a short connector piece that bolts between the cat back & downpipe and that reduces to a smaller bore on the 1.8 & 8v and if you change this to the 16v version the larger bore exhaust fit's (i don't think this is effected by year but I do know the earlier 16v uses the same cat as the 8v)
