Title: Starter Motor

I have a Golf Gti mark 2 8v 1987.  The starter motor has gone and I was wondering if the starter motor of a 1984 mark 1 gti would fit? (I think the mark 1 is 1984 or 1983)

Should do...........Funnily enough I have a 1987 Mk2 GTI starter motor fitted to my 1983 Mk1 GTI.
