Is this serious
Couple o wee holes forming below the fuel filler cap.
You can clearly see them when lifting the filler cap cover to refuel - never noticed them before - is it an easy fix or am I in trouble?
-
What car is it?
-
MK2 16V 1990

Not too serious if caught early and easy enough to fix, but check the inner skin behind this area as that where it may be coming through, its where all the craps been sat over the years lodged between the filler/breather pipes for the petrol tank,Also whilst youre there prise out the metal circlip from around the rubber filler pipe, and pull the neck downwards and have a prod about above this have seen a few mk2`s start to rot here (top of the filler as you look at the car on the inside it means dropping tank to repair properly)

aye id get lookin in round the inner skin. thats where my old 16v went. couldnt see anything on the outer skin around the fuel filler but pushed my hand thru the inner skin on close inspection!!

While you're looking make sure the drain hole at the bottom of the filler area is clear :)

hmmmmm theres a hole at the bottom? of the filler area?? ?I had to have a whole rear panel replaced because a plastic arch dropped off and it had rusted to hell, was gonna just repair the arch but when i looked under the filler cap the whole panel had started going
its alright now though with its new panel, you can't even tell :)

Yup theres a little drain hole at the bottom to let the water out
