Have you been out in a Revo mk5 though Rys?.

I would love to see all 3 major tuners on the same rollers. We're trying to organise a RR session at jkm in October on t'other forum, be good if anyone has chosen an R-tech map on a mk5 to do a fairer comparision on the same day/same rollers .

Have you been out in a Revo ed30 though Rhys?.

Nope just the GTI's   Only ED30 I've been in was Jeynesy's on Sunday and was impressed with it in standard form

But to answer to your question again I have been out in one and I didn't really notice much difference therefore left wondering where the price difference is  :undecided:

your talking about the difference between the GTI and ED30 or RTech and Revo?

i think most people know whats different about the two cars but for the small amout of extra wonga it seem you get a hell of a lot, i love both cars but obviously im more of an eddy fan

if it was the later you wer refering to the sorry! just ignoor everything i just said!  :lipsrsealed:

i think the mapping from r-tech sounds quiet good and people on this forum rave about it but part of the appeal of revo apart from being one of if not the biggest VAG tuner is the adjustability

The main reason why i like the Bluefiun, is that i keep my stock Engine map on my handset, and not a mock version that Revo offer as a Valet alternative.

R-Tech have got excelent customer reviews, but altermatly look foward to seeing a mk5 in any guise along with other tuners on the same rollers for best comparision, and whether the savings are worth it.
Another one that i rate quite highly is Shark perormance.

Post by: nick30 on 01 July 2010, 20:57
steve revo has a stock map too! the valet mode restricts the revs i think it goes up to 2k so if your leaving it with someone you dont want to rag the car. wait until you get revo like all the other superchips eddies, you will see!!

i cant be arse with this debate im going for a beer!

Sorry Nick, i ment Revo's version of stock map.  Got confusled with valet mode which is infact safe mode

As Steve said though the revo stock map isn't a genuine oem map like on the bluefin ! I'm running very good good power with giac at the moment with there updated torque maps, there stage 1 was not  the most comfortable to drive as it felt a bit on off but the stage 2 + map and hardware is very smooth. My in gear times ect seem to be rivaling some tuned k04 cars !

No playing the my map is best game here or owt, Imo I don't think there is much of a differance between them.

Couldn't agree more, I dont think its ALL about peak power, its about a smooth power curve aswell.

Carried out many many maps on the 2.0tfsi engines and every customer 100% with the whole package, peak power output, mid range power band, throttle response, smooth linear and strong. Our map is a VERY good all round map which keeps the masses happy all day long.

Every tuners maps differ, some give a nasty torque spike which looks like an xmas tree on the dyno graph, some have a nasty heat soak power tail off, some give nice WOT power and crap part trhottle control ect...  Our current working on the 2.0tfsi load maps are are spin off from our Gen4 me7.5 mapping which already is top on the leauge in the 1.8T tuining scene.

If you want smooth linear and strong mapping then come to us, or if your wanting a huge spike of torque which tails off rapid then find a tuner that tunes that way.

If your looking for another good all round map which can be switched on of off, and the timing, load, fuel adjustabilitys then go for the Revo remap with the SPS switch. We can do the Revo remap for £586.32, this includes rolling road, full diagnostics, rolling road map setup via our master Revo SPS, Having the Revo setup on our rolling road will get the car to how you want it, aggressive or smooth and linear..ect..

Went out in a Revo'd ED30 today whilst up at R-Tech and to sum it up - I'd be well pissed off if I'd paid full whack for it  :lipsrsealed:

Its nice and aggressive down low but the top end where you'd expect it to feel really strong just doesn't seem to happen and I felt very little difference between a standard ED30 and a Stage 1 Revo ED30.

Just my 2p

Price mainly - I've been in both and there's really nothing between them   The REVO feel aggressive down low but runs out of steam at the top end whereas the R-Tech one pulls that little harder

Well, the big day is nearly upon me,i'm off up to get the car Mapped tomorrow and cant wait,am wondering if its worth me getting a Milltek back box put on whilst im there ?

Is there any point in me doing so or am i just better off leaving the back box as standard ?

Biggest gains are from replacing the cat with a sports cat - from the cat back its more about the noise

I'd save up and get the entire system replaced in one go

So if i only replace the back box,the only gains i will get will be more noise then ?

Sorry for the Noddy questions but ive never put an after market exhaust on a car in my life.

Pretty much.  The most restrictive part of the system is the CAT.

They put a stage 2 remap on my gti last week, brilliant service and a great bunch of lads, you will not be disapointed! Mine made 257bhp and 275 torque with a full milltek system and evoms intake. Feels amazing and pulls like a train!!
