Hi, I have a little problem on my 07 GTI. 95% of the time it's fine but occasionally when I floor it, it just dosnt have the normal power. It feels like there is no turbo boost. When this happens, if I lift off fully and then floor it again the power is back to normal.
Any ideas what the problem is? I know it's not the PCV as I had that replaced last week due to a different issue and this problem existed both before and after the new PCV was fitted.
I'm suspecting maybe a sticky diverter valve but that just a guess!
Thanks
Dave

Sounds like the DV. Mine was the same.
Get the revision 'D' piston-type valve fitted. They are ~£45 from stealers. Others might recommend the Forge item, but it's more than double the price and unless you're seriously tuned (or intend to be), then the OEM part is perfect.

Hello,
Have you checked for any fault codes?

Hi, any idea how much they are fitted? Local VW stealer wants £49 just to diagnose the problem so it might just be worth replacing on spec!

Great, thanks. A little more than 2 mins as I'm in south Cov but I'll pop over to you some time over the next day or 2.

Thanks for the checkover today Nick. Have now filled up with decent fuel so will see how it goes over the next couple of weeks.
Cheers

Kepp me updated, You should start to feel the midrange power getting stronger as the ecu adapts the timing advance as it gets used to the fuel.

No idea, but there are several guides on the t'interweb on how to DIY it. My garage said 'ten minute job, mate'.
It's only about 3-4 torque screws, but the DV is buried on the o/s, near the bottom and you need axle stands to be able to reach it. I don't, so I got it done at the same time as another 2-3 niggly jobs.
Has the checkover sortethe issues you were having?

Checkover didnt find any fault codes but Nick suggested running on decent fuel (had been using 95) and see how it goes for a couple of weeks. Now running on shell v power. I drove about 200 miles on A roads the other day with plenty of full throttle use and the problem did occur but only once. It really only happens occasionally so I need to give it a bit longer to see if it sorts itself out on the v power.
