Title: Shudder
Post by: gtd2010 on 29 June 2010, 10:20

When i was driving yesterday i felt a shudder below 2k RPM anytime i accelerated, it seemed to be worst in the higher gears.

Yesterday was the first time it rained since i got the car so i thought it might be something to do with the wet road surface but the shudder is still there slightly today (which is a dry day)

Anybody know what might be causing this?

Could be the traction control system kicking in, are you getting a yellow light flash on the dash?

Could be something loose in the drive train, possible on a drive shaft. As already recommended, get it back to dealer asap.

I have no warning lights or anything up on the dash, its a bit unusual..once i get over 2k rpm everything seems to be fine

Sounds a bit like an issue I had on my B6 Passat.

Turned out to be the dual mass flywheel.

Manual or DSG? and also is it hard acceleration or just light accerelation, I think people think you are ramping it and spinning the wheels.

Dammit FamilyDub, you beat me to it. That's exactly what I was going to say!!!

Is this shudder accompanied by a loud tractor like noise and the whole car vibrating by any chance?

Only light acceleration, manual

Oh dear doesn't sound good under light acceralation, get in there and complain.  Maybe they will tell you its normal like the rattly gearbox issue that they all have once warm.
