I've just checked the fronts on my MK5 GTI and there's at least 4mm at the edges but they're nearly down to the wear indicator in the centre, car has done 13500 from new.
This seems to suggest the tyres (Michelin HP Primacy) are overinflated but I regularly check the pressures and make sure they are at the recommended 36psi, does everyone use the VW recommended pressures?
thanks

I just stick to the standard tyre pressure and tyre wear has been even.

Better to stick with standard tyre pressures

For the life of me, I can't remember what the VW-recommended pressures *should* be, but I run them at 35psi - that's hard enough.
Any higher and I can feel the fillings starting to shake themselves loose.

I run mine at 32 and that feels plenty in my eyes, i have no problems at all with wear and seems to feel better on the road when not as pumped up

34psi for me (with Michelin PS3's).
Used to run at VW's recommended 36psi but ride was a bit firm for my liking.

Yeah 34psi works great for my setup too.
