Hi,
After many years I can't wait to get back into a Golf GTI, having had 2 Mk2's 16v & 8v, i am going to get a DSG mk5 GTI 5doors, I am wanting to know what things one would want to look out for to ensure I get the best.
Any tips and help would be much appreciated.. I can't wait to put fun back into driving, keeping the merc too!

usual things like:
HPI check or similar
Service history, see if the cambelt was changed and what else was changed at that time, see if the DSG has had a oil change.
Look out for "whiteworm", a corrosion of the alloys and possibly the rear door badge.
Make sure all the toys work
Check the condtion of the tyres, they are £100 per corner to replace.
The rear discs can corrode in the centre, more unsightly than any thing structural
