go out and tighten your petrol cap a couple of clicks, it sounds daft but it effects the evap system. You're supposed to turn 3 clicks apparently.. but you probably need a couple more as the cap/seal ages.

By coincidence, mine came on yesterday - 60 miles after VW main dealer had completed a fairly inept service damaging my car.  I understand
there are various potential issues - lamda sensor, small hole in exhaust systems and numerous other valves/sensors.

How if you car performing? Mine seems fine except the engine sounds a little hoarse... Need to get the fault code checked to know more - except I certainly won't be using the main dealer again.

I tried tightening the petrol cap but this didn't seem to make any difference.

Mine came on thursday for the 1st ever time. Car was stood for the day, cold start and it was lit up. I put it down to a hot exhaust from the daytime temp, and a cold engine confusing the cars ecu??.

^^ I'd think the engineers would have thought of this, especially as the car get's sold in the middle east uswel. You're probably still under warranty so best get it checked.

The exhaust warning light apparently does come from time to time, especially if your running an aftermarket exhaust and do several very short journeys, which can cause this to also happen. I havent refueled when my light appeared after it had been stood for 6 hours unused in the Blazing sun.

Ive been told its nothing to worry about from a TFSI tuning specialist.

This is what happened when my exhaust warning light came on so might be worth plugging it into VAG COM/VCDS to see if there are any error codes.

3 clicks on the fuel cap got mine to go off, it's been back to the dealer and they've checked it out for 4 hours and this was all that was needed!!

Amazing. My 56 Jetta 2.0 FSI (completely unmodified) popped the light on Sunday. I scanned it today with a cheapo reader off Amazon which reported "no codes" which started to make me think that I'd wasted my money on the reader and that I should have just bought VCDS. Having found this thread via google I tightened the fuel cap up and the light has gone out now :) (I had filled it up earlier on Sunday). I'm amazed that it's not happened before in the last 5 and a half years and 80K miles.

Huge thanks, I was worrying about bill of many hundreds...
