its an attachment for a cable.
As in a cable goes into it operating a lever.

My mk2 used to have a dodgy indicator flasher relay. I always used to punch it whenever it played up, so it would start working again.
Then I saw a picture of an opened fusebox like yours above... and have always treated fuseboxes with with utmost care ever since! :grin:

lol, my main beams would be dodgy like that, so i'd hit the fusebox to get them working again. not hitting it again :D :D :D
