Been to the dealer today and sorted the reg number, free 1 week insurance and money owed etc. Agreed pick up is next Friday at 10:00am. Can't wait, it's going to be a long week
Got a good quote from VW Insurance for a years cover which I might take them up on when mine expires.

How much is there insurance?

For me and the wife it was £360, with business cover included and £100 excess
-
Well worth the wait. Enjoy.
Pics please.

The VW insurance quote sounds like a bargain - do you think the figure would be the same for someone in their 30s with no points!
-
Save a few pounds by asking the stealers to fill up your tank!
Congradulations on your new purchase!

Picking my car up at 11.00 tomorrow, I take it "hartside" and "avalon" are as excited as me

Is it a GTi, is it a manual, is it a DSG, is it ...... ??
Signature and pictures please. The latter is 'The Law', the former your choice.
Congrats in advance to you, hartside and avalon.

The rear LEDs are wickedly classy. Really change the look of the rear. Steve kindly fitted these. Love them to bits.
However, my DRLs don't work anymore on Auto. Checked by both Steve and Darren and they say nothing's amiss in the coding. It's fine by me as I hated them on all the time. According to Snoops it's byte 15 that has to be looked at and possibly unticked or something like that. :undecided:
Darren retro-fitted an LED RNS510 and I am still getting my head round it. The VW Premium Bluetooth he also fitted is amazing and works a treat with the Blackberry Bold 9700. Completely seamless. Brilliant.
PS: Get yourself an Ed30 DSG knob/shift. Beautiful. £200!

Looking at a Xenon retrofit, can source the parts from Germany for £700 including the auto levelers, I already have the winter pack so have the headlight washers.
Looks like a straight swap for the halogen headlight units as the ballasts and motor controls are all included in the headlight assembly. And a bit of coding using VCDS.
1.5 Hours until collection

Hartside:
At long last you have become a GTi owner.
Congratulations and it's very, very nice.
-
Thanks everyone, I can't stop driving it. I've now got 200 miles on it and according to the computer it's averaging 34mpg which is preety good considering the engine will still be as tight as a drum. I know how inaccurate trip computers are but at least it gives an indication. DRL's now disabled and all the settings they way I want them. The USB media player is the dogs bollox. Really pleased I went with the RCD 510 touch screen as it's a nice touch. Tried the hill hold function, which only works when you're in first gear, and holds for about 2 seconds before releasing. I must say, I wouldn't like to have paid £70 quid for it, but the wife thinks it's a great feature
Can't wait to get back out in it tomorrow
-
Just back after picking up at 11.00 this morning
Love the car, everything just seems a bit better than my MKV
The DSG down shifts in manual are much faster
The interior quality is better.
The RCD510 with the USB is excellent, will fit the RNS510 tomorrow.
Got the DRLs switched off, beep on lock and staging enabled..
My wife got a bunch of flowers and is very happy
Will get some pics up tomorrow, the car is resting in the garage.
-
Glad you are happy. Congrats.
Triplets: You, Ava, Hartside! .... mmmmmm!

Got the RNS510 (LED version) fitted as well, lovely piece of kit..
Just a quick question
Can you use the Mic through the Fiscon for voice control on the RNS510 or do you need to install a second Mic ?
-
Congrats Mike. Lovely in Red.
Now change your knob.
-
Yes, nothing like a dimpled knob
Just waiting on Steve for the rear LEDs..

No problem, looks like the front bumper has to come off to get the lights out
These things are never as simple as you first think..

Good morning.
And pray what are you grinning at?
Love to have them, but it's a complicated job I am old. Darren to the rescue? He's done one or two? Let's see. I'll get one or two more little things done and this will be the big one. Will wait for Mike to take the plunge first me thinks.

Here's a puzzler
Hartside and Mike pick their cars up the same day but Hartside has LEDs as standard and Mike has non LEDs as standard. Surely built and shipped around the same time! Is it just the luck of the draw?
Gizzy
-
Its all down to the build week.
One of the cars was probably at the docks in Germany longer than the other and or longer at the dealers. As an example H12's and my car were build 2 weeks apart but came over on the same boat.

Mine wasn't new, it was three months old, so probably build week some time in Feb/march ..
-
Does anyone know if the connectors on the new LED's are the same as the connectors on the old Bulb lights? to avoid having to use the wire adaptors that some of the guys have been using to fit the R LED lights
Just a thought?

Ah ha that's cleared that up then, getting my LEDs that I bought from Steve fitted at end of the month, think will improve my rear quite nicely

I have mine on order, so hopefully be here soon as well
