Title: Turbo Problem help please :(
Post by: Mids gti on 24 June 2010, 13:18
hi i am new to this so please be forgiving,

i have a 2000 gti 1.8t aum and am experiencing a problem with the vehicle.
when i pull away in 2nd and any gear change after that the car seems to be losing pressure from the turbo causing a hissing sound as the revs pick up like si si si si and is not very responsive at all on acceleration and the turbo just seems like its being limited or blocked some how.

this has been going on for about a month now and after changing the maf, turbo inlet hoses and the dv i am very confused and feel let down by my garage who put vag com on it and say there are no fault codes at all and have said i need a new turbo, does anyone have another answer please as i have read about people needing a new n75 valve and others have said a throttle body clean?

as i said i am new to this forum and would really appreciate any help or advice always is willing to give.

Turbo is quite an expensive last resort as it can be numerous other things.

Throttle body clean is free (well kinda.... buy some carb cleaner for a couple of quid and DIY it).

N75 is around £60 IIRC, unless you got a local hero who can lend a known god one to try....  :undecided:

Have you spoken to a specialist or just a "local" garage?
