Title: exhaust tail pipes

So mine are looking crap. Any suggestions? Was looking at

Also looking for a new wax and polish to try. Have been using collinite but after some new products really.

AUTOSOL is the best

i then use jetseal 109

yeah mate thats the stuff, did all my engine with this stuff too, how bad are your tailpipes, do you have pic?

you can start off with a metal polish on 00 wire wool and then move onto metal polish on a normal cloth... then work your way down to a microfibre

belgom alu is my weapon of choice... very good polish with protectant wax built in :)

duno if id wanna use wire wool on chrome tip type tails guy?  might take off the finish, not sure what it is on the mk5's ?

Yep I always use 00 grade wire wool, it's so fine that it will not mark the pipes. As Guy said, use this if they are very bad, once the main is off, you can then use the polish with a microfibre.

Would this work even if they are really bad? Just bought my GTI 5 years old and it looks like they've never had a wash! I've spent roughly 30 mins with 000 wire wool and Autoglym metal polish, but there are some really crusty baked on bits around the tips.

Is it just a case of more elbow grease?

try giving them a soak with autosmart tardis/decent tar remover as well - this might help
