Hi everyone,
Just bought myself a 200,000 mile 1999 Golf GTI 1.8 Turbo. I'm not totally unfamiliar with these - I used to sell them brand new a few years ago. In fact I remember driving the 1.8 T when it was first released and marvelling at how smooth it was.
So whats a 200k car like? Its unbelievably good actually and feels like its done 50,000 miles rather than 200,000. still very smooth and pulls like a train. Bit of wear to the driver's seat plus its fair share of stonechips but otherwise its really nice. Thanks no doubt to the full service history.
Anyway, I'm not sure whether to leave it as it is (it looks very low key and unobtrusive for a 150bhp car and thats quite appealing) or whether to add some slightly bigger alloys etc.
I'm going to live with it for a while and decide then. Great car though.
