Pah, we got 50.4MPG on today's round trips out of our barge and it's nearly 2t and 4WD

I had about 46mpg on the old 8v when I went to pick up the 16v donor, not bad considering I was doing about 77 all the way up including some traffic!

With the 16v I had 40mpg since Sunday morning, that trip is to Silverstone and then to Bournemouth, then back to Lymington, then back to Bournemouth and finally back home in Lymington, so just over 300 miles I believe. Not bad considering I rarely dropped below 80 and there was a LOT of traffic at Silverstone.

Best I've had is 44.7 in the Corrado  :smug: But that was on a long run at a nice steady pace.

Don't know whether to beleive it or not but it seemed to be near enough right by the amount of fuel I'd used

I don't believe the trip computer entirely, but mine regularly shows 42-44mpg when i'm cruising home from work. This obviously goes down considerably when I put my foot down

It lies! Mk3 8v 2.0 here, and it runs like crap :D If you reset your trip computer while you are driving, it will jump up massively. I did it one time and hit 99.9MPG for a couple of miles (even got a pic somewhere I think). Oh, and I wasn't driving particularly sensibly on the dual carriage way :/

It's best to drive dub slowly.

More people can see it that way.

Saying that... I did get into a race with a corrado on the way home.

Well of course it will jump massively! Before being reset it's calculated the whole journey including the period it was running cold, and the journey to the dual carriageway, including time spent stood still (for which your real time MPG should be 0). After it's reset the whole calculation is based on a warm engine, holding a steady cruising speed in 5th gear.

99.9 is more than plausible - If you were going downhill at the time (even a long gentle slope), had reset the MFA at the top of the hill and were cruising in gear with no throttle, then you would be using no fuel as the ECU will shut off supply to the engine.

45.5 was the best sustained average I got in my MK2 8v, travelling at a steady 70mph on the speedo. I've never seen above 35mpg in my 16v

Racing on the highway Jaques?...how does that sit with your mates at RT01

Shush!

It was a speed limit abiding race...

Silly me   Naturally the advance driver training you would have received as a 'Road Traffic Police Constable' would prevent you from 'racing on the highway'

However, being as your NOT a 'Road Traffic Police Constable' at all Jaques, but a Special Constable without 'blue light' training it's all irrelevant I suppose

That's funny...

Someone who knows less about my job than I do!

I've never been a Special, I was lucky enough to get offered a place in the police traffic dept. when I achieved the foundation HEC on my degree.

Didn't want to join the Police full time in the end... I'm far too doughy.

So now I'm a warm cuddly youth worker!

Haha yeah... Basically!

Twas a nice corrado actually.

I had a look at insurance for corrados a couple of weeks ago... thinking about buying one.

Only a £110 a year increase over a Golf TDi estate!

Btw Dec, that might just be the most droolworthy sig on here.

Yours and Dan's old one with the wagon on axle stands I think are fighting for pole position.

Chuff's is good too... But he let's himself down with the old disallowance of a few inexpensive mods....

A CRIME!

So, your not beyond telling a few fibs then Jaques, fancy telling us you were a Road Traffic Police Constable :undecided: I'm sure that no one goes straight into the Police Traffic Department as a new Constable, but perhaps your tentative link may have been for a civilian role?

What about this then?...says here your a Kent SPC.  Does that not mean (Special Police Constable)?

You are pathetic.

I find it very strange that you'd make a golf GTi forum account just to be a pleb about a subject you have literally no knowledge on.

Google stalking doesn't make you cool.

Why would I care if one insignificant little peon of a person wants to dispute my career on the internet?

I know what I do, I know what I've done... I've no need to prove myself to you.

You dodgy little weirdo of a boy.

Deffo.

It's just weird.

Erebus is an ancient greek who married his sister...

So that says it all really.

(According to wikipedia so in no way believe that to be true!)

Actually, I was doing..um..motorway speeds ;) on the level, and up hill. I will admit it was an unusual fluke, usually it will go to about 45-50mpg if I do the same.
Besides, I would want my reading to be current, not an average over the entire journey.
