right, i have so far replaced the maf, dv with a forge, replaced a lot of pipes, checked for leaks etc, but i am still getting this code and the car is still letting off a high boost when driving hard, its really getting annoying now.Everytime it hits or near peak boost in each geat it suddenly lets off and feels like its in limp mode,then 30 secs late rits back to normal!
anyone have any suggestions or anyone live near me where i can swap my n75 with theres to see if its that?

is it definitely 17705? sounds an awful lot like what happens when you get overboost. what year/engine code is your car?

yep,it comes up on the reader as that,but the engine management light does not come on its a 2001 AUM. :smiley:

Mine does it too and comes up with code 17963. Most of my PCV pipework is dirty/oily so I'm going to get that replaced and see if it makes a difference, I changed the N75 for a second hand one off Ebay and it hasn't resolved the issue. I'm trying to spot a pattern for when the overboost happens, maybe that'll give me a clue....

i think with the current temperatures it isnt helping us with remapped cars. I think a few people have noticed an increase in boost as its trying to compensate for the added temp

To keep flagging 17705 there has to be a major boost leak or a sensor fault.
With 17963 and 17705 the most common issue is the map sensor reading wrong, its a basic 0-5v scale sensor which can be effected by dirt and oil. If its reading the atmospheric pressure wrong then it can have a knock on effect across the whole scale. It happens a lot on early stock mapped AUMs and even more so once remapped, Later AUM mapping has a greater deviation threshold but can still flag the dct.
17705/17963 is flagged up by the ecu, the ecu torque structure knows how much air is drawn via maf v rpm v ait ect, in a fashion the ecu can work out the boost from these without even having the map sensor in play,nut if there is a discrepancy between the maf structure reading and map reading the ecu will flag the dct.

ah, well my maf sensor is 2 weeks old and a genuine vw item,so i doubt its a problem with that or could it be?

Smoke test the boost,PCV and Evap system first,
Is your car stock or mapped?

If you do get stuck I will sort the car out for you, just when you book in for the remap make sure you mention you have running issues so we can make sure you get a half day booking slot which will give time for diagnsotics and repairs.
