Oks when i start my engine sometimes i get some white smoke out of the exhaust.
On Friday i was replacing my AC fan and found this little piece of metal its about 6x8mm about 1mm thick this wouldn't have came from my turbo would it? explaining the white smoke.

I ve had the white smoke about two weeks or so could have been longer but haven't noticed till then I have drove 180+miles on Friday/Saturday the car did feel a bit down on power but the car had a full boot of camping stuff and 4people with bag on there laps so the car was very loaded up, but before that the car felt ok its only the 90bhp Tdi so always going to feel dowmn on power lol
Also cars not over heating and the coolant is fine.
Thanks

Where did you find that?!?!?!? Has it got a visible edge where its cracked off something?
Ref the white smoke... noticed anything wrong with your coolant, any gunge under the oil filler cap etc?

It's highly unlikely to have come from within the engine. Could have even flicked up off the road, but more than likely just something broken off when you did that recent work.
Is it metallic? Any signs of a damaged edge where its cracked off something?

i have this with mine aswell but mine will cut out when stationary for so long and loose power and judder sometimes whilse driving. im not too bothered though as im changing the engine soon anyway but anybody have any ideas ? Sorry about hijacking the thread but the cause could be the same, do you have any of the other symptoms mine has ?

engines a tiny bit juddery but never cut out.
ok i moved my car this morning to front of the house to clean it because its a nice sunny day when i was moveing it back when i started engine . . a bit of white smoke so i rev'd the car i little bit more but then kept revving it and . . .no smoke.

That could mean either the engine is breathing very heavy and oil is getting into the system or the turbo seals are on there way.
I know sometimes on old cars like my RS Turbo, that suggested valve stem oil seals were leting oil into the system and when you stop the car and leave it over night the oil would sit around the valves & in the chambers and once started it burns the oil off and once the valve stem seals expand with heat it stopped smoking.

Anyway to check?
