get some all purpose cleaning solution like megs APC... dilute it into a spray bottle.. lightly mist the area to be cleaned (do it a smallish section at a time and don't soak the area)... work with a stiff brush and wipe down with a microfibre... job done :)

can you get hold of a vax hoover or a wet extraction machine? this will give you more uniform results

cool!! get some APC or your chosen product and put it in a spray bottle with a fine mister head on it and dampen the headlining, if you over soak it it will sag, also split your cleaning areas into 4 sections as this will minimise the risk of over soaking it.
keep an eye out for snags on the end of the hoover nozzle as this can catch the lining and rip it.

yep just go at it gently ie no hard scrubbing and move the nozzle across your working area slowly, id also dilute the apc a little bit,
prepare to get water running down your arms lol and occasionally on your face.
