Title: clicking/tinking over small bumps
Post by: Big Tone on 19 June 2010, 12:38
As above, got a reall annoying clinking/tinking noise when going over small bumps,

checked exhaust (as it sounds like something is hitting that) and had a look round, couldn't see anything loose and dont really know where to look.

just wondered if anyone has had similar issues.

Will have a good search tomorrow, when I finally get a day off!

is your golf lowered? if so could be the driveshaft tapping the anti-roll bar?

No not lowered, all standard suspension.

Thinking Rear bushes as its nearly ten years old and most stuff is factory fitted

Sorry to hijack the thread but my golf has been lowered and it makes this sort of noise but sounds like its coming from the front is this common cos of the driveshafts as said, if so is this bad for the car. cheers

Check the exhaust is not knocking on the rear. Mine was knocking the rear beam. You will see a shiny part on the exhaust if it is. Make sure the exhaust is cold though.
