First post on the forum, although have been lurking for a while.
Well I have just picked up my gti from its service and noticed a really nasty scuff on one of the rear alloys when I got home...
Went straight back to the garage (VW dealer) and to be fair they were ok about it, although the manager is out until Monday. Apparently they have a wheel repairer who will be able to sort it out at the dealer. My concern is that the alloy is a Monza 18" and I thought these had to be refurbed at specialists like Lepson ?
You don't really expect to have to deal with these issues when you pay top dollar for the service.
They have also given me 10-40 Mobil 1 top up oil but the invoice says they filled the car with 5-30... Another error I presume.

I would ask for a new Alloy off them, or get one off another car in the forcourt?? As for the oil, its nothing new this issue , just make sure they put the correct oil in?
I had Ed30 which went in for some warrenty work and came out with a dented wing, boy did I hit the roof with them!! It was all fixed but inconvinant to say the least
Wellcome to the forum.

So how do you tell tHat the correct oil is in?
I'm the same I paid for long life oil then noticed my service book is marked up that ll oil has NOT been used.
I will talk to the tossers but reckon they will just say that the person marking up the book got it wrong. :embarassed:

I would let them know who's paying the bill and insist they put the correct oil in, and if need be get them to change it again to make sure its done right

Noticed there is also kerbing to the front alloy as well. What annoys me is that whoever drove it would have been aware that they had kerbed it but didn't do the decent thing and own up in the first place - i'd have expected more of a main dealer, but perhaps i'm being naive.
Does anyone know it is is possible to do a mobile repair to the Monza alloys or should I be pressing them to do a full refurb?
The receipt says they put in Mobil 1 5-30, but the top up oil is 10-40. So i'm not completely confident they have actually put in 5-30!
Anyhow, the GTI is great - although its a little slower than my old car (300bhp Fiat Coupe) its a lot more comfortable and reliable!

It's a difficult one. Let them repair it and see if you're happy with it or not.
In regards to the oil question, all VW dealers should now be using LL/Synthetic oil, regardless of what you ask for. As far as i know there are still a few cheap skates out there who also use semi-synthetic though.

This is why car will never EVER see a VW dealer in its life EVER again. You pay MORE and get a lesser service. My friendly local VAG specialist is enthusiastic about cars and takes good care of my MK5. He also has a moded MK5 himself :)

Thanks for the tip on Tuningwerks AlanD. The Car needs new Front Suspension Bushes (VW dealer have quoted £403 to supply and fit). It's fair to say I won't use the dealer again, so will give Tuningwerks a go.
Spoke to manager of said VW garage yesterday - he said wheels will be refurbed by Diamond Stylings and some googling reveals positive comments, so will see what happens.
