Title: What colour is my car?

as per the title and also will it have a clearcoat or not?

i thought tornado red and no clearcoat but am i right????

well mine was becuase it had laquer peel on the roof  :rolleyes:

it may have a clearcote, my mates other halfs gti has a clearcote over non met paint.

whats the year of the car, dont look like tornado to me

only early mk3 was tornado

p.s that rear badge has been off at some point as its too low down   :wink:

its a 97 (R)

p.s. i did not know that, you must have eyes like a sh!thouse rat!   :smiley:

edit!!! theres no sticker in the boot??? where else could it be? service book???

It really should have clearcoat, although its hard to tell. If it doesnt have a clear coat on top of the paint, it will most likely have the lacquer mixed through the paint. Either way it has to have some protection, if thats pure paint that will dull, crack, strip etc before you can say golf gti.

yeah if its a 97 i doubt it is tornado, think they only did a few till '94

just checked in the service manual and its down as LQ3A - Monza Red.

never heard this colour mentioned before? does anyone know if it has a clearcoat?

rub the paint with some polish, if theres red on the pad/cloth when you've done a small area then it doesnt have a clearcote.

must have a clearcoat then coz ive never had red on the pad after a polish.
