Title: My ed30 dilemma
Post by: Colinv on 17 June 2010, 21:47
Evening all. Straight to the point here, I've been looking at ed30's now for some time and I've decided I'm trading in the type r for one. Problem is, I was after a candy White 3dr however I also spied a black one at £1000 cheaper. I phoned about both and the black one seems to be doing more to keep in contact with me over a trade in. Problem is, I've only just noticed it's a 5dr. I'm only 22 but have always thought of a 5dr as family car. There aren't many other ed30's around that I like and within price range, do I go for the 5dr as it's 1 lady owner, 25k miles, full history etc, or will I regret not holding off for a 3dr...........

Opinions on a postcard would be great

if you have your heart set on a 3 door i would wait. i love mine and would never need 5 doors but it can be handy i suppose. sounds like a nice car just take your time and stuff because us invisible internet gremlins cant really help you out with everything

thanks mate, something just keeps coming into my head imagining opening a back door to put a baby seat in, and more often than not, I never tend to have people in the back of my car much. Usually just me and the girlfriend

they are expensive mate and seem to be few and far between. I have spoken to a dealership and got a trade in value etc but he says he spoke to his finance department and I've been waiting on them phoning me since Monday. Isn't looking to likely.

My only other option is to just go for a gti but I know I would kick myself for not just putting in the extra few £ for an ed30

I'm in an ed30 dilemma too...sell mine then find the right car or keep mine and get her the way I'd like her., I'd need to sell private and buy private I think....there are some good '30 bargains out there now, none in White though... They still fetch a premium, Audi Ayr have a nice one but it's £19k!  I think I'd actually want a 5 door now, living with 3 for 2.5 years there's been a few times where it's been annoying. (but not that many)....think I may actually prefer the look of the 5 to the 3 now too!

Oh and you wont regret an ed30

the one at ayr Audi is really nice but can't justify spending all that money. 16k is my limit. I work just across the road from there in at ingrams vw.

There's a couple of nice White gti's cropping up but I dont think I'd be happy if I didn't get the ed30. Just phoned about a White leon cupra k1 but I've not been offered enough on the civic.

White is my 1st choice,
grey my second and black my third. I just don't know whether to see the black 5dr from a different point of view

try that mate, if it doesn't work google Pitt stop and it will come up as first result.

Just spoke to a dealers in Wales over a 3dr black ed30. 1 previous company owned car, 07 plate £13995, full vw service history, 50,000miles. Just to send him my settlement figure fr
or civic then it's hopefully game on from there.

Best of all, he's offered me £8500 for the Honda where as everyone else only offered £8000

Ok put it this way, if you buy a 3 door, then tiny feet where to come along, whats the 1st thing your gonna have to sell cus wife/girlfriend cant get babyseat in the back. Could be your pride n joy.

5 door all day long for me as it looks just as good as a 3 door.

Mini me's won't be coming along for a while yet lol. And when they do, the seat will be getting tilted forward whether the girlfriend likes it or not lol. I'm quite excited at the though of an ed30. It's the same insurance as the civic so not losing out in any way other than an extra £20 a month on finance

Seriously mate, if you're thinking of kids at all within the ownership of your next car, forget a 3 door!

Kids are definitely out the equation for the next 3 years anyways. I've had many a car since passing my test then selling them on again within a year, but I've promised myself if I can own an ed30 at any point then I'll definitely be more than happy to keep it for a long enough time. Just need to gather a deposit together now. This is when you tell yourself prostitution is a great career hahaha

Like 3 doors myself but have a 5 door mk4 as at the time i knew that the car was right for me don't use the back much but always handy tbh i'd love an ED30 and wouldn't care 3 or 5 door  theres a nice white 3 dr parks in the carpark where i park at work

I've decided I'm going to hold off on an ed30 for another month yet just so I can get some more money together. Plan is that I definitely want a 3dr candy White so no point in me rushing in and just buying the first edition 30 I can find. So long as it's the right car, I'm more than happy to travel for it

If you never have anyone in the back and don't intend to start a family within the time you have the GTI, keep looking for a 3dr.

I usually have a lot of friends/family in the car so 5dr is much more friendly and useful in this aspect. Plus I'm keeping the car for as long as possible, so if there's the pitter-patter of tiny feet, I won't have to make stupid decisions like selling the missus and baby (no way am I getting rid of the car!).

It was at one point. CC used my car to develop their Phase 2+ map. Smooth power deliver, but it wasn't ultimately agressive enough for me, so I bailed to REVO.
