hi guys
just read through a 'how to' on fitting coilovers and there is mention of a spreader tool
....which i dont have
so basically what can i use that will do the same job?

VW Special Tool #3424 a.k.a. The Spreader Tool (required) - available for $10 from Autotech or $20 from Zelenda. Or, if that's not available, a 1/4-inch slotted screwdriver bit in a 1/4 ratchet drive can work too.

might soak it in wd40 overnight!
and then give the old hammer and flat headed screw driver a go :grin:

Never needed to spread the hub carrier with coilovers. Needed when fitting OEM struts. Handy to have though, i need one myself.

just use a hammer and chisel to open it up
