Title: Brake Calipers
Post by: Enforcer on 17 June 2010, 20:12
Hello - noticed my brake calipers had turned into a 'faded red' look - quick clean with a rag got them shiny again.

Any tips on keeping them looking like that - is it just a case of cleaning them with a rag regularly? (I'm worried some of the paint my come off as the rag had a tinge of re on it).

Thanks in advance :)

i just clean them through my alloys when i wash the car with water and car shampoo, then rinse them with a hose they come up all shiney, or just spray a bit of alloy wheel cleaner on a rag and wipe them ova then rinse to get them spotless :)

The paint on the calipers is prone to fading because I don't think it's lacquered. If you use brake cleaner or harsh wheel cleaners they will go a bit faded/milky.

I cleaned mine up really well (took the wheels off) and then sealed them with some high-temp sealant - but you could use any decent wax.
