Title: **HELP**Tapping coming from drivers wheel at low speeds
Post by: brosnan on 17 June 2010, 17:56
Any help/advice will be great here:

I started getting a tapping noise from front end, took to local garage and they said cv joint...
Okay replaced it !!!! The noise continued, so took it back to them and the said i had actually shreaded the off side driveshaft teeth etc but, Cause they made me replace part which didnt need doing nor stop the prob they took it back and did all that. Noise faint but still there!!!

I have been told i need to replace the suspension top mounts cause my coilovers have nackered them.
I thinking wheel bearing.....??????

Thanks

wont be wheel bearing, it makes a sort of grumbling noise which gets louder with speed.
did you change the top mounts when the coilovers where fitted?

I didnt change top mounts na, the garage that did all the above work said that the top mounts were gone.
It defo sounds as if a bearing is smashed and trying to move... weird metal tapping..

Thanks for advice

have you checked your front wishbone rear bushes to make sure they havent started splitting.

if they haveyou will notice vibration in the wheel when going forwards or backwards.

Also could be strut top bearing, that has been over tightened n crushed when fitting coilovers
