My neighbour took my out in his 300+ bhp GT TDI with over 450ftlb torque last night.
F* ME! Thought I was gonna die, Ive never gone so fast into roundabout and made it out the other side! 4 wheel drifts and all sorts! Fair play these golfs are EXTREMELY capable if pushed to their limits.
We were entering corners. where as I would be breaking, he was accelerating into 3rd gear. Absolutely ridiculous.
It will spin for grip in 3rd gear, the torque is crazy.
A brief spec of his car:
Huge FMIC
Massive Turbo
Ethanol
Propane
NOS
Custom spray bar running off aircon pump
LSD
19" OZ
Huge drilled discs
FR Coilovers
Plate Clutch
The only thing missing is a built in toilet - cos I was S**Ting myself!
Ive been in my mates civic type R when he used to drive it like he wanted to die when we were younger, but this was mental, Ive never been in a car driven so savagely and the car just took it ALL in its stride. He was making minor corrections, back end out, front end out, it felt like it was such a direct drive, no wallow in the corners or body roll. Awesome.
He tried to bate a Civic Type R at one point but the civic didnt want to know, (thankfully!) I think if we had gotten into a race like that, I wouldnt be alive to type this story!
The issue he is having with it is the MAF cant cope with the huge volumes of air, so Jabba Sport suggested an audi tt 225bhp maf (GTI maf), but that still cant cope, and as a result the engine cuts out on max boost. Anyone know of a way around this? RS 4 MAf or something?
Ger
ps all this took place on private roads.

i would probably suggest cutting down the power so the MAF could cope, why would you need so much power in a FWD car anyway?..

Ethanol
Propane
NOS
Why would you or could you even run all the above on a TDI

the only other thing is a standalone management system. He may want to speak with Emerald or other companies that do management.
It'll be the only way it will be able to measure air intake correctly at that power. How ever alot of 1.8T owners running big power use a 3"MAF housing and it copes fine with the air intake.

diesels can't run standalone can they?

Why is that? Surely something could be knocked up?

I would think you could,as they run a ecu system like petrols and looms can be made to suit.

Sounds like hes driving a bomb!! Would'nt want to be around if something went tits up. Sounds fun though.
