Title: Newbie saying hello
Post by: TheWhiteOne on 15 June 2010, 21:45
Hello all,

Just in the process of ordering a GTI  :grin:, 99% there on spec;

5dr
DSG
Candy white
18'' Monza
ACC
Lux pack
Storage pack
Sunroof
Winter pack
Xenons
DAB
RCD510
Dynaudio
Bluetooth
Flat tyre indicator
F&R parking sensors

Got a couple of q's;

DAB - Does anyone know when switch over from FM to digital is happening? Is the DAB option worth it? Had it on a BMW without iDrive, pain in the ar5e to use!

RCD510 - Is this supplied with the necessary lead to plug your ipod in and get track names/use of steering wheel controls? Have an Audi at the mo, any chance it could be the same lead?

Bluetooth - the salesman tried to sell me off the VW factory bluetooth option when I told him I have an iphone because it doesn't work. Is this true? He offered me a dealer fitted option instead, very similiar price to the factory option which sits on the dashboard.

Cheers

Dab switch over will not be for at least 10 years,i went for the dab and am glad i did.

RCD510 comes with the leads you need,ive never plugged anything into mine because i use the sd card but im pretty sure you get everything you need

(hello bye the way)

DAB - yes very much worth it

RCD510 - yep comes with the leads to get track names etc

BLUETOOTH - He's right, it wont work with the iPhone. If you want that working you'll need the Fiscon Plus kit. Don't get anything that sits on the dashboard.

Hello!

Yes, factory bluetooth pants, Fiscon seems to be a good aftermarket option, integrates well behind head unit so parrot sytle drilling holes in dash etc.

Don't know about DAB, RCD510 has all your ipod tracks on display via lead that comes with car (that plugs into armrest).

Hello again, we were all newbies once...

Welcome and DAB switch over is supposed to start in 2015 according to government websites.  Which isnt really that far away.  Fit aftermarket FISCON or Mobridge behind the radio.
