my insurance went up £103 for the yr after declareing my remap, many ppl say not to bother declareing as its hard for the insurance to find out the cars been remapped, i didnt want to take that risk but each to there own i guess

Its a hard question to answer as everyone is different / age / sex / occupation/ where you live / age etc etc so is very dependent on those factors along with who you are insured with

Some will not increase your premium while others get out their massive calculator and sting you

Think mine went up by about £50  :undecided:

you'd be very silly to make an announcement you're getting a remap on the forum and not declare it to your insurance.

star performance up my way remap them without the flash counter on the ecu increasing, but then i don't know how the insurers actually check the map, but there are people employed to check if a car's modifications are declared or not.

that was my next question.."who u insured with" lol. Does getting the mods rule out the likes of bell and admiral direct line etc etc and would i need to go to the specialists like adrian flux etc etc??

This year I'm insured with Aviva - just under £500 with everything declared, full NCB's and my missus on the policy who has only just passed her test but thats including some extra discount that my dad managed to wangle lol

Try giving Greenlight or HIC a call if the mainstream guys won't touch you

Nope.  None of my engine mods has impacted on the MPG.  Only thing that's affected it is my wheels and even thats minimal
