Nychance you guys could split the classified section into ie mk1 mk1 mk3 mk4 etc just so you can go straight the parts u need instead of trawling everything but what u need???
Top site though guys keep the hard work
-
That doesn't really work very well in the current format though as you would have 54 child boards in the classifieds section! Would look a bit of a mess!
-
maybe just ditch the child boards, keep a board per MK then have a wanted in each, seperate ice, seprate cars for sale and seperate other? know it would be pain to change either way though. :undecided:

That makes more sence to me as trying to find stuff for certain mk's can be a pain.
-
I think the easier option would be for sellers to start using decent titles to describe the item they are selling
-
make it mandatory to start a thread MK4 or MK3 depending on whats selling. bimmerforums.com are way over the top on there thread titles but u could adopt some of there ideas just to tidy up the classified section.
-
Like the idea of having like mk3 or mk4 etc on the title or some sort of destinctive tag that you have to select when you post an item up?

Totally agree ..... 'some odd bits' is not a good way to advertise sh!t, also can there be solid pricing guidelines?
'offers' ..... I offer that you go f**k yourself!

+1 on using "MK1, MK2, etc..." in the thread titles, would be very helpful.
-
I agree, putting better topic titles would be a massive help. Don't think the forum needs re-organising though.
-
I suggested all this back in 2006 and its still not changed! It never will

Thing is it's down to the seller to make sure they put what MK the item is they are selling for in the title.
-
Indeed but a bit of strong handed modding on stupid titles wouldn't go amis, just until people got the message!
Seriously tho, its a nightmare searching for parts on here. I would at least like to see the 'Engine and Exhaust'' selling area seperate from 'brakes and suspension' it makes no sense to have them all together.
-
Aye it annoys me when you see an add saying "LETHER INTEROR 4 GOLF" When all it would really take is "MK3 Golf GTI Leather interior for sale"
-
if people cant be arsed making an ad helpful to buyers then fcuk em ,
as been said how hard is it to put Mk3 etc etc etc in the title.
its not , so if they dont - they may well miss out on a sale.
Simples.
Coming next - bottom wiping for beginers

:afro: well said!

do you not think it would be better splitting 'engine, exhaust, brakes and suspension parts' into two separate boards? like it is on most other forums? Would be less bumping of threads and would make it easier to find parts.
Or is it just a case of its always been like that so we wont change it?
No bottom wiping for me, just constructive suggestion
-
Nothing changes here
-
things just get moved  nice new section BTW
can it have a child board for each Mk
-
No but I will re-write all classified thread titles to confirm to a strict standard.
-
can we have a separate section for door pins jv?
-
which mk do they fit?
-
now now there's no need to get silly!
-
can we have a passat section too

Funny as fook
So true

Love people's passion and ideas for the site, brilliant to see
Whatever works guys, your doing a great job, keep at it, it's brilliant
-
the problem with havin seperate boards for different mk's is that you get bloody mk1 and 2 boys coming over to the mk4 forum and pinching the good bits before i get to see them.lol
-
Fairs fair, first in and all that, never leave the site and you'll never miss a thing...
-
Great Site - Guys Love It... Keep Up The Good Work...
Could I suggest this as an Option;
As a structure for the classified's why not have a
Global Setions for; Cars for Sale, ICE, Wanted, Alloys & A New One For Non Specific Items, Or Items That Dont Fit In any of the others...
Sub Section for MK1, MK2, MK3, MK4, MK5, MK6, Passat If You Must!! Etc Etc
And If Demands Require's - Then Do Sub Pages For The Mk's But Make Them Simple - Body, Interior, Engine.
It Adds a few more pages but will make it much easier to find the relative parts that people maybe looking for...
HTH
-
....and even more of a nightmare to moderate etc. Some people can't even put the correct adverts in the main sections, e.g. wanted ads in the for sale board, so how are people going to get the correct section, in the correct sub board of a global section ! Would be funny to watch mind.
All this is easily avoided and simple if people just put what the part and mark it's for in the title heading.

 yeah right - next you will be telling us theres a search function on here and a Picture posting guide

Now that's a couple of good ideas that we should think about doing. :afro:

I agree but some folks are just Dumb and at least if it was split the way I suggested there is no need to put the Mk's in the title as they would at least have to pick the correct section to list in the 1st Inst....
There maybe some confusion if the Dumb ass dont know what Mk it is.... But I think it would improve it over what there is currently... Not that I have any issues but it does Pee me off when you have no idea what some Pi11ock is selling at least this way if I want Mk2 parts I go to the MK2 section....
The other option could be to list the Relevent Classified MK's with in the Forum sections... Then existing Mods can keep an eye on it....
It does make sense... If you think about it Logically....
Sorry if it seems that I am trying to teach you guys how to suck eggs...
-
Appreciate your ideas, I agree that it could do with some work. I have an idea to do the whole golfgti classifieds thing in a much better way entirely, the current forum layout doesn't really have enough flexibility to do it really well.
-
No worries dude, no offence taken. I didn't say it was a bad idea, just not that workable and easily solved if people selling just thought about their adverts a bit more. It would be down to jv and/or toph anyway as they have the power, not the lowly globals or mods.
