Well I'm sure you guys know how exorbitant the pricing of cars here (Singapore) is compared to yours. I was almost going to sign for the Gti mk6. But something told me not to and at the last minute, I cancelled. And for a good reason as well because my buyer backed out from buying my curret car.
And also on thoughts for future purchasing. I'm in a mental and ego battle with myself, although I know I'm definately going to end up with a gti! But probably with a used 3 or 4 year old one.
With the R @ £93K for a brand new piece, and the MK6 @ £81K brand new, u can see how hard it is to own such a car here .
There are used MK6 on the 2nd hand market already, but they're going @ £62K. Still steep though.
MK5's are in abundance here on the 2nd hand market but something tells me not to go for it! Not sure if it's my ego, mentality or standard. As this "next" car is going to be with me for atleast another 6years or so, I'm gonna have to think real hard about it. Any opinions will be greatly appreciated to help make my decision more sharp.
R is kinda out of the question as it's using the MK5 engine and honestly, even if I could afford it, it's kind of a turn off for me IMHO!
I love the MK6 interior material quality, BUT, the Revo dealer at my place can do a upgrade on the MK5 to bring it up to 300+BHP there abouts.
There's my dilema on the above write up! Still trying to find some peace and solace to this!

Jeez, you must be loaded to run a car in Singapore!
If it was me I'd go for the second hand mk6. I wouldn't have thought Singapore was big enough to get any use out of a 300bhp car and a mk6 will map to 260-275 easisly enough with decent fuel.
But then again I have no idea how much money you earn etc etc so maybe you can afford a brand new GTI easily enough? If so then go for it, it's nice car and the mk5 will seem a bit dated in a few years time. How much is a Scirocco over there?

Send me £60k and I will post you my MK6!!!

LOL, you'd think it'd be cheaper to hire one over there at that rate?

Yes, cars cost a lot in Singapura, la!
I know because I have close family there. Cost of a Mercedes C/E or BMW 3/5 is even more prohibitive. Peaople here won't believe the prices.
Get a secondhand Mk6 and be happy. It's not worth spending all that money on an older design. What will the locals think of you?

Well, I'm not loaded at all. Although I would love to say I was lol! I'm currently driving a Honda Jazz. Its my 1st car tho. And it turned out to be my experiment car. Done all NA and Turbo with it and now back to stock with ICE!
The 1.4 Scirocco would set you back about $48K Pounds . Lets not go to the 2.0 one.

Haha! You've got the Singapore fever! lol! Since you got links, can I leech on you to migrate there    Just kidding hehe!
I hope to get the MK6 by the end of this year if all goes well. There are still more MK5 here compared to the MK6 although the dealer here says otherwise! lol!
Well guess your right, 2nd hand MK6 sounds more feasible. I prefer the material quality and dash of the MK6 too!
