The Law states that this had to be done.
I hereby comply, but apologise for the quality of the pictures.

Hi Sunday:
Getting there slowly like British Rail.
Sh!t, I've aged myself!
The Ed30 knob is attached Saturday next week courtesy of Master Tech at VW. If they damage any trim, they said they would replace it. It seems as the gear knob is a 'back order' item, I cannot return it, full stop. What nonsense.
Also, they will look at the clunking armrest , and a very teeny weeny rattle around the speedo/rev dials. I don't think much will be possible with this.

Two ideas,
The plastic trim strip can rattle and also the clips on the fuse box panel can rattle against the inner parts of the dash. Try removing the fuse box cover. ( C shaped bit on end of the dash when you open the door) see if that stops it.

I identified the exact spot. It's the trim just below the dials which is not sitting properly. I'll get them to sort it. Have a bad neck and shoulder, though now better, still makes doing things a bit difficult.
As you also know, in my excitement after having the LEDs fitted, I smoked in the car and burnt the carpet down to the metal  Fixed it with a sprayed scouring pad which I stuck into the hole. Totally invisible now. Pat on the back for the brilliant fix  but slap on the wrists for smoking!

Quite sure you cheeky devil from blue velvet. The camera does lie sometimes.
-
You smoked in your beautiful car??? Shame on you
LEDs looking smart though

The pic's don't do them justice, looked much better in the flesh

++++++++infinity!
The change to the rear profile is quite significant. Makes the car look wider and more upmarket. The darker LEDs are a must especially on a red car.
What really upsets me is that I cannot see them all the time.
They really and truly are beautiful and I never thought I would say that about rear lights!

Very nice mate, looks top!! Show the forum your knob

Thanks young man.
I'll show off my knob  next Saturday when it gets plugged in, that is if it can be done without damaging the trim.

It should be fine , the master tech will do it no problems. I wish I had mine done now they even asked me to transfer it over from my old ED30 , miss that gear lever so much

Tell you what my friend: I'll come over and you can have a feel and play with mine once you get back from Holiday!
BTW: Need to get the car detailed soon. Looking a bit mucky! Where to go?

the master tech
I love the names they give themselfs. Alan Sugar has the right idea, ban american job titles and call them what they bloody do.
Master tech my arse. There was a time you had to have real qualifications in Engineering before you became a Tech. I know i took them!!!
Their trained monkeys who if the computer says no have no clue! There trained out of a book they have all been since the 90s and 99% of them (theres still a few who do and have a passion for it) have no clue. But then maybe, i may be biased as i had to look after these people when my uncle was setting up a well known uk wide dealer chain back in the 70s,80s and 90s.
Rant over

The guy doing mine has a BSc in Automotive Engineering and has worked for VW in Wolfsberg. He is also doing part-time further training at VW Germany. Very impressive person.
But the proof of the pudding is in the eating.

Thanks Steve:
It's just that I am at last recovering from a 3.5 month neck and left shoulder problem and I don't want to endanger my recovery.
We'll talk when I am well and truly ready.
Bloody knackered still even after an 8 hour sleep. Going to bed now!

Stick your name down on the list in the link below (last page) and wait for SteveP to reply when he knows he can get hold of another batch.

AM was it serious mate, I'm just myself recovering from back and neck strain after getting hit by a 3 1/2 ton block on my magnet crane at work
I seem to have damaged a lower rib aswell and that don't half hurt
Will see you next Saturday hopefully when I'm down in London.

Look forward to seeing you. But honestly don't come if you are in pain. I fully understand.
Darren I'll PM you and tell all about my woes!
